8 Ways to Catch Up With Your Girls in Manchester
Now don’t get me wrong, life's milestones are great, but you know what I miss from time to time? Chatting, laughing, and putting the world to rights with my girls.
If you and your girls are due a catch-up, I have 8 ideas which might just take your fancy.
Lunch in the Northern Quarter
The Northern Quarter’s ace for a catch-up. It’s cool, it’s a damn-site quieter than Piccadilly, and there are tons of great places to grab a bite.
I have two favourite places where I like to take a load off in the Northern Quarter; number one being Common, they do a top full English, and number two being Flok, for one of their signature baguettes. If neither of these places sounds up your street though, don’t be disheartened- you’ll be spoilt for choice in the Northern Quarter.
Book a Spa Treatment
A spa treatment might just be the perfect remedy to help you and the gal pals relax and unwind. There’s plenty to choose from in central Manchester, or out of town if you’d prefer.

Go for Afternoon Tea
Now girls-who here doesn’t like cake? Over the top creamy, nutty, fluffy calorific cake?
Afternoon tea in Manchester’s the perfect place to put the world to rights over plenty of tea, and more than enough of the sweet stuff.
Do a Challenge
If there’s a few of you looking to catch up then a challenge is always a laugh. There’s the Manchester climbing centre if you’re a sporty group, or, if you prefer a bit of a mix, then you might want to try the Crystal Maze Live Experience (I loved it).
Watch Some Live Music
If music’s your thing, Manchester’s your place. These northern suburbs have birthed a number of world-class bands and artists over the years and the underground music scene still thrives today.
The Soup Kitchen is a well-established live music venue, located in the heart of the Northern Quarter, Manchester.
Watch A Comedy Show
When it comes to laughter, us northerners do it best. Here in Manchester, there are only two venues you should head for if you want some standup comedy which is the Frog and Bucket and the Comedy Store. By far the best places to go, and the entry fee isn’t unreasonable either.
Grab a Cocktail
This one's a cliché girls night, but whatever, we love it. Getting dressed up from time to time and forgetting about all the important stuff for a couple of hours is essential for us all to get by.
If you’re on a budget, cocktails at Cabana and Turtle Bay are 2-4-1 on a Saturday night.
Check Out an Art-House Film
If you’re looking for something different to do, why not give an art house film a go at the Corner House? It’s a bit off the beaten track, but you know what? I like it.
And There We Have It
I hope this post helps you and your girls reignite the fire in those friendships by taking some much-needed time out. If you’re looking for new ideas of things to do in Manchester, be sure to keep up with me here on Just Moved To, or over on my blog Manc Madam.
