Living like Luxury in Wigan

As someone who’s working-class, my idea of luxury is an M&S meal deal or a trip to the cinema. Trust me, a £4.50 Tango Ice Blast is enough of a financial splurge, especially while I’m on a student budget right now.

Nevertheless, there is some point to this post, as I’ve managed to find the top picks of luxury in Wigan, and how you too can experience how the other half live. If you’re looking for a dining experience, the traditional High Moor Restaurant will surely suffice. With its idyllic Lancashire countryside making an appearance, this fine dining establishment can show that us northerners can also do class when it needs to. Likewise, nearby is the Wrightington Hotel and Country Club, which can offer high-class accommodation, as well as having their own restaurant, afternoon tea, and spa and golf facilities. Other similar venues include Ashfield House and Macdonald Kilhey Court, popular for wedding venues, but also both beautiful locations to spend a short holiday or staycation.

However if you’re really dedicated to living like luxury, and you have a spare few million in the bank (Don’t we all?) then why not have a look at some of the houses around the Wrightington, Parbold and Mawdesley areas. When driving through, some of these houses are truly, incredibly beautiful, and it’s clear why they do cost so much. If not the house itself, then the countryside surrounding these areas will surely win you over – And speaking from someone who’s very much a city person, I do enjoy a drive through Parbold’s country lanes and going to Toogood Farm Shop on the rare occasion.
